If Sachin is
amazing, his biography by Khalid Ansari, "Sachin Born to Bat" is really amazing! Something
I really liked about the book and learned the most important thing about
dreaming. No wonder Sachin is “Devacha Mulga” (God’s Child) as described by one
of his close friend in the book; his life has been nothing more than a fairy
tale as we see in animated movies. Of course the god, himself has written
script of his life and everything he wanted, he got it. Whether he played his
first match at 16th, he got his first century, marriage with Anjali,
he bowled the last over in Hero Cup, his knocked after sandstorm, century after
father’s death, recovery from injuries, first ever double hundred, winning
world cup, 100th century, 200th test @ Wankhede and
finally receiving highest honor “Bharat Ratna”.
We can say this
was the part of a story which God scripted for his own child named Sachin
Tendulkar or maybe he’s still scripting his story. All he dreamed, he made it
fulfilled by efforts, hard working and honesty played major role in success of Tendlya’s
(named after a Marathi vegetable “tindli” by his school friends) life. When he
was asked about his dream he told about the world cup immediately after losing
the 2007 WC in Windies where India disqualified in first round. He knew that
next world cup was held in India and final would be in Mumbai, Wankhede. It was
the best chance to give something a country and especially to Mumbai where he
started his career. 2007 was the year when he was struggling with his form and pressurized
with his retirement. Still he kept patience and dreamed of the World Cup. He
told his teammates to forget about the past and concentrate about the future
2011 where their destiny was waiting. Team won the world cup here in Mumbai and
fellow members dedicated this cup to the senior most and their beloved player
Sachin Tendulkar.
At a press conference on being elected as a Congress Rajya Sabha MP |
This was only a
single example of achieving a dream. To a small level, he wanted to conquer Champions
League T20 & IPL which he successfully did in his last matches. He wanted
to play his last match of career at Wankhede which he was able to manage and it
was witnessed by his mother for the first time. The most prestigious award he
won recently when he was honored by Bharat Ratna by prez Pranab Mukharjee on 4th
Feb 2014. We can say this was too a part of his dream or maybe not as he
dedicated this honor to all mothers of India who sacrifice themselves for their
children. The Indian Cricket is in bad stage nowadays even with names like
Shikhar, Virat, Rohit, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin etc. They have not won a
single match yet after the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar. His presence was
crucial in Indian team. Even if he wouldn’t play, the team definitely performed
well. Hope he’ll be dreaming again to see team India at the top of the list and
make that dream come true. Till then, we hope some miracle can save Team India
and they can be able to win matches.
