Preeti Rathi died on June 1 |
With lots of
dreams, 24 year old medical student Preeti Rathi, a Delhite came to Mumbai in
May 2013. She was very happy as she was selected in Colaba based NAVY Hospital
where she was about to join the next day. No wonder that the dream city Mumbai
has fulfilled Preeti’s dream to be a doctor. But her fate was different; Mumbai
was standing with a surprise for her. Preeti was accompanied by her parents in
Bandra bound train. Preeti’s parents alighted first. She was last to alight the
train when it was in Bandra. Something happened in a blink of an eye and an
unknown man covering his face with handkerchief tapped her. As soon as she
looked back, the boy threw acid on her. Preeti’s entire face burnt including
the chest. Preeti was a medical student and such strong woman. Like the Delhi
medical student, Preeti showed recovery and doctors believed she could recover.
As usual the bulletins were, “Stable yet critical”
On June 1st,
Preeti succumbed to multiple organ failure in Bombay Hospital and her dreams
died with her. So, its India and no wonder we lost another gem of our country.
Another bright girl died. You can see the incident was happened in May 2013, it’s
almost November end. The Railway Police is failed to nab the murderer. The Bombay
High Court has finally transferred the case to the Crime Branch of India which
has many facilities and latest equipments. The Railway police have confirmed
that the man who threw acid on her, immediately caught the Jammu bound Swaraj
Express which was standing on the adjoining platform and departed within 90
seconds after the incident. The railway police trace more than 60000 calls made
between Mumbai and Surat but could not trace the criminal. Moreover, they
arrested three people after the attack but they all were left innocent as
nothing was showing that they were criminals who attacked Preeti Rathi.
Preeti's aunt crying after her death |
Father of Preeti
was in such pain and he was asking for the CBI inquiry after the incident. But
there was no clue left for Railway police. Even the CCTV footage is not showing
the face of the criminal. Moreover, people were looking after Preeti including
her parents that helped the acid thrower escape easily from the place. He has fled
somewhere in North India, may be Delhi or Haryana. Mumbai has seen cruelty. Today,
when I am obtaining fast for the woman who succumbed to her injuries after
heinous gang rape on 16th December 2012, my eyes filled with tears seeing the conditions of a poor father of Preeti. Can he win the battle and able to give justice to her daughter? Or like the others, he will have to wait for long time…
God bless Preeti’s soul and I request you if you’re my true friend, please
pray for her…
