Are we Independent enough?

It's 29th when I consider the Black Day in each month. And so I observe full day fast. Not for many reasons. But I feel ashamed of my country. On this day someone with many dreams passed away, with her soul resting in peace, the brutality of humans, system, politicians, and entire country was seen. As office remains close today, with my sickness I am going for outing, probably The Gateway Of India. As the festival season is on, the city is celebrating the famous festival of Kanha's Dahi Handi. Not only men but also women will go for this festival. After all they have been practicing for so long. Mumbai is always known for it's 'bounce back' characteristic. We know the city has overcame from every worse situation it had faced. Meanwhile, I read the news early morning in Gujarat Samachar that the Mahalaxmi Gang rape victim girl has been discharged from hospital last day with very stable condition. I would really appreciate her true spirit how she has acted after the incident. A normal girl might lose her entire life after such thing would happened to her but with immense spirit she has asked a big question to the authorities how much is a woman safe in our country and what punishment does those rapist deserve? I am sure Mumbai cops are keen to water tight the case and I believe the rapists should never be treated like humans.
India is a great country you know when incident like rape occurs, it becomes national issue. News, Media, politicians, film stars along with citizens start protesting and ask for death penalty to them. While other side, the other people will look out for human rights law. I am very much amazed how Indian law cannot amend the sentence for such heinous crime. They keep committing and people keep protesting. How long will it be keep happening? We can only ask. But cannot change. We say we cannot change the world alone. But what will happen if we get together and try to change the country. Did you remember what happened after 16th December. It was a huge crowd gathered near the India Gate and near the parliament of India in protest of the Incident. It was recorded the highest number of people ever gathered in a history of India. Yes, even more than the people who celebrated 1947 Independence near same premises.
So simple thing. What is it proved? It proves that the country isn't independent yet. It has been trapped under the criminals called 'Women Eaters'. I don't know why we celebrate an Independent Day where women cannot go outside in night, molested almost every place, cannot wear what she likes, cannot listen music, cannot have mobiles. What kind of independent is this? How long we will bounce back?
Actually we all want a change which starts with our efforts and ends with many questions.
